When you save a published page, your changes go live right away (see Status & publishing). For bigger changes this is risky — visitors would see every half-finished step. A draft solves this: you work on a copy, and the live page stays untouched until you are done.
Create a draft
In the pages overview, open the options menu of a published page and click Create Draft. A gray row with a Draft badge appears right below the original — its address ends with __draft. All languages are copied.
Work on the draft
Edit the draft like any other page. View opens a preview that is not public. Whatever you do, the live page stays exactly as it is.
Apply the draft
Done? Open the menu of the draft row and click Apply Draft. The content of the draft is copied onto the live page — all languages at once — and the draft disappears. The live page keeps its address and stays published.
Discard the draft
Changed your mind? Click Delete on the draft row. Only the draft is removed. The live page is not touched.
Good to know
- A page can have only one draft at a time.
- A draft is never published — it is applied to the live page instead.
