Automatic translation follows built-in rules for style and terminology. Translation prompts let you add your own instructions on top — for example that a certain word must always be translated a certain way.
Where to find it
Open Translation Prompts in the sidebar. There is one tab per language — every language except your default language, which is never a translation target.
What to write
Write plain sentences, as if you were briefing a human translator — preferred terminology, tone, or a correction you keep making by hand. For example: “Always translate member as Mitglied.”
The instructions apply to every automatic translation into that language — pages, sections, header and footer, and collections such as FAQ, news categories, and image alt texts.
Your instructions win
Your instructions take precedence over the built-in style and terminology rules. That makes them powerful — and a careless instruction affects every future translation into that language.
Important: after changing a prompt, run a translation and read the result in that language.
When changes take effect
Click Submit to save a tab. The new instructions are used from the next translation on — existing translations do not change until you translate again, for example with Re-Translate Section.
Leave the field empty to use only the built-in translation rules.
